The Fairbanks House is listed in
the National Register of Historic Places. On one manicured
acre, the four-story Italianate-style villa is graced with
dormers, bay windows, massive chimneys and balustrade balconies
and porches and a fifteen-foot tower. Legend has it that
one of the Fairbanks' descendants stood in the tall tower
and watched the 1901 Jacksonville fire fifty miles away.
